‘Folk Songs of the British Isles'

At this Summer Concert on 11th July 2015 we presented a mixed programme of traditional Folk Songs, and folk songs written by Maz O'Connor, some sung by her and some for us to sing with her - arranged by Sarah Latto. This was a new departure for North Downs Consort, and it is fair to say received mixed reviews. Some positive comments from choir members and their audience were: "it was a breath of fresh air and fun to sing something different", "I found the concert very uplifting and atmospheric. It was lovely to lose myself in the music for the evening. In particular I found the performance of Derby Day by Maz O'Connor very moving and poignant", "I thought that the concert was brilliant, great performances by us of the more traditional choral folk music, and the magical collaborations with Maz O'Connor".
